The newest place to go if you’re over 50

Allsorts Activity GroupFrom an idea muted by Len Taylor having acquired a carpet bowls set – the Allsorts Activity Group was born.

With the help of Pauline Brittain, Health Development Worker at the NHS and LindaTyrrell from Age Concern a six-week programme was planned and introduced.

Starting February 2009 community involvement featuring health and activity was the paramount goal of the group. These included:

  • chair exercises
  • carpet bowls
  • therapy/relaxation speakers
  • cooking demonstrations

After only two weeks it was realized that things had got off to a flying start and a grant application was completed (with positive results) which has now made it possible to run the group for a full year. There is a small charge to participate (£1.50) and refreshments and light lunches areavailable at reasonable prices.

Further activities planned will include line dancing, relaxation, hand massage, card making along with many other features and events.

Allsorts Activity Group is sponsored by Grass Roots Grants. Allsorts Activity Group meet every Monday between 10 a.m. and 2.45 p.m. at St.Nicholas Church Hall.
