The Bridge Centre on Bridge Street has a brand new arrival, St Leger Homes of Doncaster. They opened the doors of their pristine Thorne cash office earlier this month.
St Leger Homes manages 21,000 Council Homes on behalf of Doncaster Council and has a network of similar offices across the Borough which can be used to pay rent, council tax, water rates and other council payments. As well as providing traditional landlord services such as rent collection and repairs, St Leger Homes provides a wide range of training for its tenants and encourages them to participate in the company’s decisions and services. It also plays an important role in creating and supporting Tenant and Residents Associations across Doncaster.
St Leger is also in the middle of delivering Doncaster’s biggest ever investment in council homes – The Decent Homes Programme. This will see £300m invested until 2014 to improve Local Authority homes by providing central heating, new kitchens, bathrooms and double glazing. At the recent official opening celebration, customers had the chance to do a financial MOT, receive a free energy efficient light bulb, and benefit from advice from the Danum Credit Union. Chairman of St Leger Homes, John Young MBE said
“This office is a vital link between St Leger Homes and the community we serve in Thorne. This new office, as well as our existing ones, contains a wealth of information for our tenants. It is also more easily accessible and offers amore pleasant environment for our customers.”
